Financial Support

In recognition of the benefits to be gained from having the results of the research available, several Departments of Government are making an annual contribution towards the costs associated with the research. In addition Government has made available a copy of its digitised mapping system. This will enable the charity to present its results in a very accurate and easily understood way and will allow Government to readily ‘overlay’ the results onto other digitised map data such as development zones, areas of conservation importance etc.

Research

The charity undertakes a number of specific and one-off research tasks for a number of Government agencies, providing a level of expertise not readily available elsewhere on the Island.

Tourism

Although developing an ‘eco-tourism’ market is not a primary aim of the charity it was pleased to respond to a request from the Department of Tourism by devising a ‘Where to watch birds’ brochure.

Liaison

The views of the charity are being sought more and more frequently on aspects of Government responsibility. We are pleased to offer this assistance; advising on, amongst other things, cutting regimes on airfields, road widening schemes and on when to lay underground pipes to minimise disturbance to nesting sites.
