Raising Strategy
Central to the success of any organisation, whether
it is a charity or not, is a good product and an income sufficient for
it to continue to operate. Substantial effort was expended in the planning
of our work to ensure our product was good, with considerable success.
To go from a concept, in September 1997, to an organisation undertaking
research in April 1998 was no mean feat. To secure, within that time,
support from Government, the public and local companies is a reflection
of the fact that we have been successful in product development. Since
starting we have attracted support and recognition from within the wider
academic field beyond that which we felt would be possible. To continue to operate further funds are needed. Funds
are secured from a number of different sources: * Government. A number of different Departments
and agencies of Government have agreed to give support over the
full five years of the research. This support is important as it
not only reflects the credibility that we have with one of the main
‘end users’ of the data but it also shows to other potential sponsors
that we have the support of the Islands Government. * Members of the public. One of the benefits
of this research programme has been the involvement of the public.
As mentioned previously over 290 ‘individual’ sponsorship agreements
have been agreed at £20 per annum. If you would like to ‘sponsor
a species’ please send your details together with the name of the
species you wish to sponsor and a cheque for £20 to * Corporate support. Those involved in
running the charity were very aware of the fact that there were
many companies on the Island who already offered charitable support
to a range of organisations. Therefore, in order to attract support,
not only did our product need to be of interest to potential sponsors,
the amount of money being requested needed to ensure that it was
‘affordable’. At £200 per annum for five years it was felt that
most of the companies who might have an interest in supporting us,
would also be able to afford to make a commitment to our research.
As previously mentioned some of those supporting our work have chosen
to sponsor more than one species. To date 41 agreements have been
reached and effort is being made to increase that number to 100.
At the end of this page is a list of species available for sponsoring.
If you would like your company to be exclusive ‘Corporate sponsor’
of one of these please send your details, the name of your chosen
species and a cheque for £200 to to * Grant Making Trusts. Within the Island
and the UK there are a number of ‘Grant making Trusts’ who support
charitable endeavour across a range of areas of interest. A number
of those identify their ‘areas of support’ as being sympathetic
with those being undertaken by Click here to view the Schedule
of species available for Sponsorship N.B. Those species marked with a cross have already
been sponsored at Corporate Level |
